Liminality, Loss And Transformation Along the US/Mexico Border

Photographer Richard Misrach has been documenting the border zone between the US and Mexico for about 5 years. He has taken photos of everything from the landscape itself, to discarded shoes, shotgun shells, and children’s toys, to startling, mysterious human effigies. A couple of years ago he began collaborating with sound artist Guillermo Galindo, who has taken some of the discarded border items and made instruments out of them. You can see Richard’s photos and Guillermo’s instruments here.
